ESTHER MINNIE BALLARD

Esther Minnie Abrahamson, second child of John August and Fredericka Abrahamson was born in Sweden Feb. 10, 1881. Her parents came to America when she was three months old and settled on a farm in Lucas County.

On May 15, 1895, she was united in marriage to George D. Ballard. To this union seven children were born.

They lived on a farm northeast of Chariton. She continued to live on the farm for a number of years to raise the two small children at home when her husband died March 4, 1924.

She accepted Christ as her Saviour at the Williamson Gospel Hall about 30 years ago.

Due to her failing health she spent the last two years with her daughter, Mrs. Minnie Moore. On Nov. 19 she was taken to the Baker Nursing Home where she passed away Jan. 5, 1960, at the age of 78 years, ten months and 26 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and an infant son, Johnny.

Those left ot mourn her passing are Mrs. Mae Brown of Forest City, Harry, Mrs. R. L. (Minnie) Moore, Charley, Mrs. Vernon (Gracie) Carlson and Homer, all of Chariton; two sons-in-law, three daughters-in-law, 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charley, Manuel and Walter Abrahamson; one sister, Mrs. George (Laura) Duckworth, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother and patiently bore her long suffering until the end. She and her loving kindness will be greatly missed by all her relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 8, at 1:30 p.m. at the Miley Chapel. The Rev. Franklin Prindle and Charles Johnson were in charge. Burial was at the Brownlee cemetery.
