Funeral services for Clarence A. Aanderud, 78, of Maddock were conducted from the Viking Lutheran Church on Thursday 18 Mar 1976 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Chris Hallenger and Rev. Dale Seffrood officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery in block 3 plot 25. Mr. Aanderud died on Saturday evening 13 Mar 1976 in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby. Casket bearers were Alpheus Wisness, Harris Sundet, Gene Ratzak, Leo Spriggs, Harlan Helgeson and Henning Olson. Mrs. Herbert Faleide was the organist and Rev. Chris Hallager provided special music. The Wheeler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Clarence A. Aanderud was born on 7 May 1897 in South Viking Township of Benson County, ND to parents August and Barbara Aanderud. He attended public school in the Aanderud School and the Viking School. On 26 Jun 1920 he married Olga Sundet. The couple lived and farmed southwest of Maddock in Arne Township until 1968 when they retired from the farm and moved into Maddock where they have lived since. Mr. Aanderud had been a township officer of Arne Township, had been a 4-H Club leader and had headed many various charities during World War 2. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Gail (Berlayne) Olson of Hawthorne, CA; two sons, Odell Aanderud of Longview, WA and Donald Aanderud of Kelso, WA; two brothers, Richard Aanderud and Elmer Aanderud both of Everett, WA; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Ardell, who died in 1967; his parents; three sisters, Clara, Mildred and Adeline; and three brothers, Gotfred, Leonard and Beltram.
