Mrs. S. O. Hagen passed away Sunday afternoon at the Primghar hospital where she had been a patient the past week. Funeral services were held at the Friends church at Mapleside Tuesday afternoon. The remains were taken to Marshall county where burial was made beside that of her husband in the Stavanger cemetery, near Dunbar.

Ella Hagen was born at LeGrand, Iowa, March [28?], 1867. She was the daughter of Margreta and Sigbjorn Rosdale. She passed away on March 10, 1946, being 78 years, eleven months and eleven days. She grew up in Marshall county and on November 27, [1890?], was married to Sven O. Hagen at LeGrand, Iowa.

The first year of their married life was spent in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Returning to Marshall county, they made their home there until 1910, when they moved to a farm near Primghar, Iowa, in O'Brien county. There they continued to live until 1937, when they moved to Dunbar, Iowa. On September 29, 1938, her husband preceded her in death, after which she made her home with her children in O'Brien and Cherokee counties.

To this union were born nine children - Myrtle Skaar, Gaza; Bertha Idso, who passed away in 1919; Sidney Hagen, Primghar; Omar Hagen, Gaza; Thea Meling, Jasper, Minnesota; Gladys Skaar, Gaza; Esther Hagen, Cherokee; Ruth Kleinheksel, Gaza; and Arlo Hagen, Paullina. A grandson, Alfred Idso, of Sioux City, was also reared in their home. Besides her children, she is survived by twenty-one grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Society of Friends at Mapleside near Paullina, Iowa, where a brief service was held Tuesday, March 12.

Burial was at Stavanger in Marshall county, March 13, 1946.
