Memorial service for Jack Abrahamson will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the American Legion Hall in Gillette, WY with Pastor Bill Morel of Family Life Church officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post #42. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Walker Funeral Home.



Long time resident, Jack Abrahamson, age 75, passed away February 14, 2010 at his Gillette home with his family by his side, following a long battle with cancer. Upon his request cremation has already taken place.
Jack H. Abrahamson was born February 11, 1935 in Minot, North Dakota to Russell and Edna (Kinzell) Abrahamson. He was the second of seven children. Jack worked on the Strand family farm before entering the U.S. Marine Corps in 1952.
He served three years of active duty during the Korean Conflict and he went on to serve another five years in the Reserves. He was honorably discharged in December, 1960.
Jack moved to Gillette, Wyoming in the early 1960's and worked various jobs in the oil field, local area ranches, and in law enforcement. On June 25th 1983, Jack married Terri Davisson.

At the time of his death, Jack was retired from Campbell County Road and Bridge where he drove truck for fourteen years. His love of driving over the road led him to continue working for various local trucking companies even after retirement.



His hobbies included riding his motorcycle, coin collecting and visiting with friends. Jack was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge. He was a proud member of the American Legion for over 50 years.


Jack is survived by his wife Terri of Gillette, WY; sons, Gus Abrahamson and J.R. Abrahamson both of Gillette, WY; Jeff (Sherilyn) Abrahamson of Minot, ND; daughters, Brandi (Abrahamson) Evans of Waukee, Iowa; Jodi (Dale) Myers of Minot, ND; and Jackie (Steven) Donohue of Tolna, ND; brother, Stan (Norene) Abrahamson of Boone Iowa; sisters, Bev Keigley of Boone, Iowa; Jane (Brad) Page of Nevada, Iowa; eleven grandchildren (Sarah, Daniel, Nikki, Joe, Zachery, Melanie, Matt, Michelle, Mitch, Shad, and Jordan) also thirteen great grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Barb Schwan and Linda Abrahamson; brother, Larry McCoy.



In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name to benefit Campbell County Memorial Hospital Hospice Hospitality House or the American Legion Post # 42.
