Mrs. N. C. Tennison, a resident of the county 46 years, died in St. Joseph's Hospital at 7:35 p.m. Monday, January 13, 1964. She had been in failing health several years and critically ill more than a month.
Mrs. Tennison was born Margaret Ann Hopper, daughter of William T. and Albina Sharp Hopper, on July 4, 1878, in Nashville, Tennessee.
She was married to Mr. Tennison December 17, 1893 at Sherman, and they later moved to Russell, Oklahoma where they lived until coming here in 1917.
A devoted member of the Baptist Church since she was 13, Mrs. Tennison also provided the background and inspiration which caused several of her family to enter the ministry of that church.
For a number of years the family lived southwest of Wellington, but after the late Mr. Tennison retired from farming the family home was in Wellington.
Surviving Mrs. Tennison are three sons and six daughters: Dr. R. C. Tennison of Brownwood; C. c. Tennison of Cave City, AR; L. F. Tennison of Amarillo; Mrs. Guy Bumpass and Mrs. Eugene Bawcom of Wellington; Mrs. Arvazene Winter of Tyler; Mrs. Bertha Turner of Amarillo; Mrs. Lee McEachern of Pasadena, CA; and Mrs. L. P. Aaron of Artesia, NM. She also reared a grandson, Ralph Tennison of Wellington;
Other survivors are 30 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.
