Elmer Wilson

Elmer Larue Wilson, youngest son of Omar and Cornelia Wilson was born December 13, 1885 on a farm north of Milton, Iowa and passed away at the Ottumwa Hospital December 30, 1944 after an extended illness, at the age of 59 years and 17 days.

On March 2, 1910, he was united in marriage with Edna Mort of near Keosauqua. To this union three children were born. One son, who died in infancy and two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Smith of Cantril, and Mrs. Louise Beer of Keosauqua. He is survived by his wife, Edna, the two daughters and two grandchildren. Shirley Rae Smith, and Billy Blackburn, also four brothers and one sister, Jim, Frank, Willis, and Mrs. Nellie Abernathy, all of Milton and Paul of Cantril and Mr. Mort the aged father of Mrs. Wilson, who has been making home with the Wilson's. His father and mother, one brother and one sister have preceded him in death.

He united with the Lebanon Methodist church when a young man, ever remaining a faithful member. He spent all of his life near Lebanon, Iowa until in November, 1943 when because of ill health he and his wife left the farm and moved to Cantril.

Elmer was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and friend and will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends.

A precious one from us is gone.
A voice we loved is still.
A place is vacant in our home.
Which never can be filled?

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, January 1st at the Lebanon Methodist church in charge of the Rev. Randall Parker. Burial was in the Lebanon cemetery.
