Eleanor S. Abeyta passed away peacefully at home in Safford with her family by her side. Her gentle and loving way touched all of those who knew her, guided those who needed help, and provided an example for all to live by.

Eleanor was born April 3, 1935 in Klondyke, Arizona to Jose and Margarita Sanchez. She was one of 11 children raised in a loving, hard-working and proud family. She would fondly share her stories with all of her life on a farm and would always say how good her life had been.

Eleanor married the love of her life, Esidro Abeyta in Safford in 1955. "Willie" passed in 1999. Together they had four children, Marcia (David) Bittner of Show Low, Kathy (Frankie) Ochoa of Safford, Bill (Rochelle) Abeyta of Tucson, and Carlos (Blanca) Abeyta of Safford. She has 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren made her life very happy and joyous. She cherished her time with them as they made her life more complete. They all truly loved their Nana.

Eleanor was devoted to her family, friends and her faith. Her hobby was cooking for her family, friends, and anyone who happened to come by. Eleanor cooked and made Willie do the dishes. She had many dear friends that made her life warm and happy. God truly blessed her and she in turned passed her blessing on to all.

A viewing will be from 9:15 - 10:00 on Friday, May 28, 2010 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Rosary being recited at 10:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Father Thomas Dekaa officiating. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery.
