Funeral Services for Mrs. Fed Ackerman, Was Native of Russia
Funeral services for Mrs. Frederick Ackerman, 83, of Phillips were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Higby Mortuary. Mrs. Ackerman passed away last Saturday.

Mrs. O. U. Forsman and Miss Ruth Gustafson sang "Beyond the Sunset" with Mrs. C. R. Carlson as accompanist at the services in the Chapel.

The Rev. Peter Grossman of Sutton officiated at the services at 3 p.m. in the Hope Reformed Church of Sutton. Mr. Kenneth Kauk and the Rev. Peters Grossman sang, "Woe Findet Die Seele Die Heimak: and "Rock of Ages" with Mrs. Victor Griess as accompanist.

Casketbearers, all grandsons of Mrs. Ackerman, were Gerald Rhoades [sic], Delmar Griffith, Allen Ackerman, Dean Ackerman, Lonny Ackerman and Leaford Ackerman. Interment was in the Sutton cemetery at Sutton.

Katharina Fuhrman, daughter of Jackob [sic] and Katharina Fuhrman (nee Ehley [sic]) was born April 18, 1881, in Rohrbach, South Russia. She was baptized in the Reformed faith in 1899.

When she was eight years old she came to the United States with her parents. They settled in Fairfax, S. D.

She was united in marriage to Frederick Ackerman February 7, 1904. To this union were born six sons and two daughters, Terry of Jordan Valley, Ore., Andrew of Louisville, Colo., Edmond of Kearney, Karl of Phillips and Sophie Wilson of Lincoln.

She made her home with her son Irven until five years when she moved into a home of her own on her son Karl's farm at Phillips where she lived until the time of her death on July 4, 1964.

Besides her children she leaves to mourn her passing 37 grandchildren and 17 great granchildren; two brothers, Jacob and Peter Fuhrman of Herrick, S. D.; five sisters, Mrs. Anna Odenbauch [sic] of Remby, Alberta, Canada, Mrs. Eva Ulmer of Sutton, Mrs. Elizabeth Trautman of Lemmon, S. D., Mrs. Lydia Stroh of Herrick, S. D., Mrs. Margaret Stroh who resides in Iowa and Mrs. Sophie Thompson; also a host of relatives and friends.

Her husband, fred, preceded her in death on March 2, 1951; also a son Herbert of York on March 4, 1964; 09 Jul 1964; pg. 2.
