Estherville – Services were held Monday morning for Mrs. Tillie Eliza Aalborg, 101. She died Thursday at the Good Samaritan Center. Interment was in Eastside Cemetery. The Rev. Clifford Haider officiated with Fuhrman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Tillie Eliza Johnson, daughter of Henry and Susan Johnson was born May 2, 1880 at Story City, Iowa. She moved to Estherville with her family at the age of seven months and received her education in the Estherville Schools. On Sept. 6, 1898 she was married to Joseph Aalborg in Estherville; the couple lived in Vivorg, So. Dak., for a few years then returned to Estherville where Mr. Aalborg worked for the county until his death in 1965. She remained in her own home until a week ago when she became a resident of Good Samaritan Center.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Aalborg is survived by three daughters: Eloise Aalborg, Estherville, Mrs. Altamay Smith, Superior, Mrs. Vera Austin, Spencer; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three son: Sargent, Arnett and Leroy; her parents; seven sisters and four brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 31, 1981)
