Fred Abbott was born in Lexington, Cleveland County, O.T. the son of Samuel Henry Abbott and Mary Jane Thompson.

He married Essie Mae Caskey on December 23, 1915.

They had four sons, John Benson Abbott, (1917-1989), Wymon Wayne Abbott (1920-1988) Marvin Cecil Abbott (1927-2004) and Fred Abbott, Jr. (1933-2008).

He was farmer in Verden, Oklahoma from 1941 until his death in 1986.

He had two brothers, Charles Benjamin Abbott (1893-1977), James Monroe Abbott (1899-1983), a sister Bessie Mae Abbott (1895-1971).
