ETHA FLOURNOY ADAMS

Etha Flournoy Adams, of Ft. Gaines, Georgia, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, July 10, 2010, at her home. She was 53. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. (E.D.T.) Monday, July 12, 2010, in the New Park Cemetery in Ft. Gaines, with Reverend Randy Stokes officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. (C.D.T.) (Alabama time) Sunday at the mortuary in Abbeville. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Dawn Pitchford Account, c/o Hematology/Oncology of the Children's Hospital, 1600 7th Avenue, South, Birmingham, AL. 35237. Mrs. Adams was born in Cherry Point, North Carolina, daughter of the late Harold Martin Flournoy and Mary Sybil Hayes Flournoy. She was reared in several locations in the United States while her father served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps. Mrs. Adams was a 1975 graduate of Abbeville Christian Academy and received a nursing degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Wallace College Sparks Campus in Eufaula. She was retired, due to disability, from Patterson Hospital in Cuthbert, Georgia. Mrs. Adams was formerly employed as a L. P.N. in the office of Dr. Homer P. Wood, the Ft. Gaines Nursing Home and the Clay County Hospital. Surviving relatives include her husband, Gerald David Adams, Ft. Gaines; two sons, Sgt. Clay Adams and wife, Melissa Adams, Ft. Campbell, KY; Clint Adams, Ft. Gaines; two grandchildren, Abigail Adams and Gavin Adams; her step-mother, Martha Tipton Flournoy, Abbeville; two sisters, Marta Flournoy Bryant, Chicago, Illlinois; Karen Tipton, Abbeville; two brothers, Harold Steve Flournoy and wife, Sherry Flournoy, Abbeville; Lt. Col. Mark Alan Flournoy and wife, Andrea Flournoy, Miami, FL; an aunt, Betty Bryan, uncles, Felton Flournoy and wife, Ramona, and Marvin Flournoy and wife, Evelyn; several nieces nephews and cousins.
