OBITUARY-
Emily Higby Abbott was born in Boone county, Iowa, July 9, 1843 and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. L. Mahoney, April 9, 1927, aged 83 years, 9 months. She was united in marriage with M. M. Abbott in March, 1870. Mr. Abbott passed away July 11, 1917. To this union four children were born, three of whom survive, Mrs. D. L. Mahoney, Crab Orchard, Neb., Mrs. L. M. Meeker, Anaheim, Cal., and Mrs. T. C. Stafford, Lenore, Idaho. There are 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Jennie Davis, Washington, Kansas. She also leaves a host of friends to mourn her passing.

While she had never united with a church, she possessed strong religious principles, giving to the support of the church and those in need. She put others first, thinking of others rather than herself.

Funeral services were held at the united Brethren church in Crab Orchard, Sunday, April 10. Rev. A. W. Vannice officiating. Interment was made in Crab Orchard cemetery.
