Frank Abbey died at his home in Fairbury, Nebr., March 6, 1928 at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 5 days. He had been in his usual health until a few days before his death, when he suffered a stroke of appoplexy (sic).
Frances (sic) Abbey was born in the province of Quebec, Canada, January 1, 1848. While a small boy his parents located at Fon Dd lac (sic) Wisconsin. He enlisted in Company E of the 38th Wisconsin Infanty in May, 1864, serving in the army during the Civil War. After a few years residence in Wisconsin following his serving in the army, he came to Clay County, Nebr., taking a homestead near the present town of Edgar in 1873. Here he was married to Miss mary Jean Murphy on September 23, 1877.
Mr. Abbey with his family left their home near Edgar in 1893 and located on a farm in Nuckolls county, Nebraska. In 1900 they moved to Cowels, Nebr., where they remained until 1921 when they came to Fairbury where they have made their home since.
He was a member of the G. A. R. and also the Congregation church of Cowels, Nebr.
Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Orin Robert Abbey of Clenco, Wyo., John P. Abbey of Fairbury and Walter Lee Abbey of Cowles, Nebr., and one daughter, Mrs. Alex Nephews of Fairbury. Another daughter, Nellie Eugenia Edenburn, died at Superior, Nebr., in July, 1915.
Funeral services were held at the Richardson funeral parlors in Fairbury Friday with Rev. Robert C. Shupe of the Presbyterian church as minister. Burial was in the Fairbury cemetery.
