"Mrs. Mary Rodgers - Challis, Sept. 11 - Funeral services were held in the First Congregational Church here Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Mary Louise Rodgers, well known former Challis resident, who died Sept. 3 at a Nampa hospital. Mrs. Rodgers was born Oct 1, 1865, a Waveland, Miss., a daughter of Phillip and Isabella Hallaran. She was educated in New Orleans, LA, and came with her parents to Challis in 1889. She resided with them at the Beardsley Hot Springs until her marriage to Joseph Rodgers in 1891. Prior to her marriage, she taught in a school which was located east of Challis, on the present site of the Cobbley ranch. White in Challis, Mrs. Rodgers was an active member of the First Congregational Church and of its Ladies' Missionary Society. After her husband's death in 1931, she resided for some time in Pocatello, later returning to Challis, from which she moved to Nampa. Surviving are her son, Joseph R Rodgers, Challis; her daughter, Mrs. Mary Genevieve Jarvis, Pocatello; two grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. Five sisters and four brothers preceded her in death. The Rev. L. O. Bean, Mackay, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Joseph Varner. Interment was in the Challis Cemetery, in charge of the Marvel Home, Arco."
