Irene Brooks, Abercrombie, 80, of 136 Riverside Dr., Tallapoosa, died Aug. 2, 2007.

She was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Alabama, to the late William Frank Sr. and Ada Devore Prichard Brooks.

In addition to her parents , she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Abercrombie; grandson, Ernie Richardson; great-granddaughter, Mateline Abercrombie; great-grandson, Jake Bell; sisters, Lizzy Brooks, Josie Swafford and Clyde Swafford; brothers, William Frank Brooks Jr., Willard Brooks, Earnest Prichard, Stanley Brooks, and Marvin Brooks.

She was retired from the Arrow Shirt Company and held numerous other jobs throughout her life. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Mack Patterson of Tallapoosa and Judy and Roger Reeves of Muscadine, Al.; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Charlene Abercrombie, Ray and Patrica Abercrombie all of Tallapoosa. Roy and Sylvia Abercrombie of Muscadine, Al., and Bobby and Renee Abercrombie of Villa Rica; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; a sister and brother-in-law, Pearl and Eric Parrish of Carrollton, GA; a brother and sister-in-law, Riley and Helen Brooks of Buchanan; and one sister-in-law, Edna Brooks of Tallapoosa.

Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenneth Layton and Chester Pesnell Officiating. Music was Provided by Ann Brooks-Robinson and Douglas Campbell.

Pallbearers were grandsons: Donnie Abercrombie, Clifford Abercrombie, Dennis Patterson, Wayne Abercrombie, Adam Abercrombie, Justin Bell and James Brooks.

Burial followed in the Pine Grove Church Cemetery.

Miller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
