MACON – Julius (J) Long, 87, died Thursday, September 23, 2010 in a local hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Bethany Cemetery, Wadley.

Mr. Long was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Clifford Long and was the son of the late Thomas Calvin Long and Nannie Varnell Long. He was born in Flora, MS and was a graduate of Mississippi State University and Atlanta School of Law. Mr. Long was a U. S. Army Veteran and was a claims adjuster retired from Cotton States Insurance. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his stepsons, Bill (Nancy) Raines of Macon and Jed (Anissa) Raines of Brooks; his grandchildren, Amber Raines, William Raines, Cole Raines, Sydney Raines and John Raines; two sisters, Virginia Bush and Inez Long of Clinton, MS; numerous nieces and nephews.
