Don B. Abnet, 88, or Berne, Indiana, passed away at 10:30 p.m. on October 3, 2007 in the Swiss Village in Berne, Indiana.
Don was born on August 14, 1919 in Adams County, Indiana, the son of the late Charlie Abnet and the late Dora Edna (Brewster) Abnet. He married Ruth (Luginbill) Abnet on January 27, 1946 and she passed away in July of 2007.
Don was a member of the First Missionary Church in Berne; a member of the American Legion Post #468 in Berne; was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army and receiving the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. Don enjoyed fishing, sports, his family, and was retired from farming.
Don is survived by his son, Delno (Becky) Abnet of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; son, Paul J. (Diana) Abnet of Berne, Indiana; son, Daniel (Deb) Abnet of Berne, Indiana; son, John C. (LaNae) Abnet of Berne, Indiana; sister, Esther Habegger of Indianapolis, Indiana; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2007 in the Swiss Village Chapel with the Rev. Kris McPherson and the Rev. Max Haines officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Geneva, Indiana. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by American Legion Post #468 of Berne, Indiana.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 6, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne Indiana; and one hour prior to the service at Swiss Village on Sunday.
Preferred memorials are to the First Missionary Missions; or Gideons International.
