Peter Adams was born in Prussia and came to America in 1866 and lived about one year in Wisconsin, working in the pineries of that state. From there he went to Colorado and worked in the mines, almost continuously, until he settled in Decatur County in 1885 and took up a homestead. For years he was one of the most successful cattle feeders in the community, and in his prime had few equals as a judge of livestock. He was known as a true hearted, industrious and loyal man. He was never married. At the time of his death he was without a known relative, but had many friends.
