JOHN BILLINGS ABBE, son of John Simons and Hannah (Billing) Abbe, born in Enfield, Conn., June 4, 1805; died February, 1876, in Baltimore (Township), Iowa. With his wife and four children he emigrated from Warehouse Point, Conn., to Iowa in 1838. He left a large estate in Baltimore (Township), Iowa, to his widow and one son.

Married (1) November 27, 1828, ABIGAIL HARRIET KINGSBURY, born at Warehouse Point, December 7, 1804; died June 28, 1844. (Buried in the Abbe-Baltimore Cemetery) She was the daughter of Sanford and Nancy (Heath) Kingsbury of Wollop, Conn. One account says her mother was Abigail Osborn.

Married (2) MARIA HALIN of New York State, who died about 1855. (She died 22nd of March, 1855 and is buried in the Abbe-Baltimore Cemetery).

Married (3) MRS. NANCY MILLER. She had nine children by a previous marriage, none by this one. (She was born 11th of March, 1809 died 17th of May, 1889 and is buried in the Abbe-Baltimore Cemetery).

**writer's note: For many years the Abbe-Baltimore Cemetery was abandoned and forgotten. George Graham Dunn, prior to his death in 1982, had a marker placed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, Henry County, Iowa, naming the Abbe Family in the abandoned cemetery: Harriet 1793-1865, John Billing 1805-1876, Abigail Kingsbury 1804-1844, M. Amelia Halin 1816-1855, Nancy Miller 180-1889, Harriet 1837-1845, C. Amelia Dunn 1845-1877, John H. 1848-1865.

Sanford Kingsbury Abbe, d. In Colussa, Calif., about 1875, aged about 40; m. and had two daughters. (George Dunn notes that he died in 1873)

Gilbert Abbe, d. unm. before 1880. Went with his brother to California. (George Dunn notes that he died in 1868)

Leander Abbe, d. in Lowell, Iowa, in the spring of 1874. Married Maggie Wilson, who m. (2) Dr. Archibald of Lowell, Henry County, Iowa. Leander Abbe had four daughters.

Harriet Abbe, d. young. (George Dunn recorded 1845)

Ann Eliza Abbe, B. in Iowa; m. and was living in Colusa, Calif., in 1880. (George Dunn notes that she was born in 1842 and died in 1923.)
