Roy E. Abbott, Sr., 87, of Stanfill, passed away Wednesday morning of March 17, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Abbott was born Jan. 26, 1923 in Cullman, AL to the late Clarence Bertis (C.B.) and Gertie Alred Abbott and had resided in Harlan Co. for most of his life. He was retired auto worker and longtime faithful member of Pansy Missionary Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Lee Abbott, his siblings: Glen Abbott, Mary Jean David and Katherine Angel.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Albert Abbott of Stanfill, KY; four sons: Jerry Abbott and wife Polly of Muskogee, OK, Charlie Abbott and wife Jeanene of Catron?s Valley, KY, Roy Abbott, JR and wife Janet of Aynor, SC, Gary Roos and wife Diane of Oregon, IL; one daughter, Barbara Huckleby and husband Eddie of Nolansburg, KY; Grandchildren and great-grandchildren, April Wilson and husband Terrill their children, Tyler, Logan and Conner of London, KY, Chuck Abbott and wife Shauntae and their children, Brady and Carson of Catron?s Valley, KY, Lori Baker and husband Patrick of London, KY, Amy Bohrer and husband Howard and their child, Addison of Myrtle Beach, SC, Traci Lee and husband Cameron of Aynor, SC; special family friend, Diane Smith of Mary Alice, KY; he leaves a host of other family and friends including his minister and the members of the Pansy Missionary Baptist Church.
The family of Roy E. Abbott, Sr. will receive friends on Friday March 19, 2010 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Joe Rouse and the Rev. Eddie Huckleby presiding. Music will be provided by Faye Brittian.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday March 20, 2010 at the Resthaven Cemetery.
