Clifford Nelson, age 92, of Bemidji, MN, died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Havenwood Care Center, Bemidji, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bemidji, MN with Rev. Ed Behling officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, May 20, 2008 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, MN. Visitation will also be held one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji, MN. Arrangements are entrusted to Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, MN. Clifford (Cliff) Lawrence Nelson was born December 4, 1915 in Bemidji, MN to Ferdinand and Blanche Nelson. When Cliff was eight years old, he was struck by lightning while he and his brothers were weeding the family garden and his two brothers were killed. During World War II, he served in the Army Chemical Air Force in the South Pacific area. After which he returned to the family Riverside Farm. He married Laura Burr October 22, 1947. He worked for Beltrami Electric for over 30 years as a lineman. Laura passed away in 1985. During his retirement he enjoyed gardening, deer hunting, trapping, fishing, card playing and volunteering at the Bemidji Food shelf for over 20 years. Cliff was an active member of Trinity Lutheran church, serving on many boards, as well as being head usher for many years. Cliff served as an officer of Aid Association for Lutherans, local branch and Headwater Credit Union. He will be sadly missed by his two sisters Amy Burr of Bemidji, Pearl Aasen of Brainerd, special friend, Millie Schlueter and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Laura, brothers, Loyal and Elmer, sister Mabel Nelson and nephew, Barry Aasen.
