CLOKETA ABBOTT ADA-Graveside services for Cloketa L. Abbott, 79, Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Bethel Cemetery in Byng, Rev. Tony Folger will officiate. There will be a memorial gathering for family and friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home. Mrs. Abbott died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at her home. She was born December 14, 1930 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She lived in the Tupelo area as a child and attended Tupelo school. She married Alvin A. Abbott in 1949 in Ada, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in Waco, Texas. She then moved to Dallas, TX and worked in the retail market. She was a manager for Susanne Shops in Dallas and became supervisor of all of the Susanne Shops in Dallas. After leaving Susanne's, she managed and opened new stores for a department store chain called K-Woolens until her retirement in 1985. She then moved to Houston, TX and lived with her son, Ross Abbott. She has lived in Ada for the past three years.

Survivors include two daughters, Cloetta Guffey Hayes, Ada, and Carmen Guffey, Waco, TX; two sons, Ross A. Abbott, Houston, TX, and Carl T. Abbott, Waco, TX; two brothers, Mearl Gregory, Stonewall, and Clyde Messer, Conroe, TX; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Shumate, Jerry Guffey, Jr., John Albert Guffey, Jay Collin Guffey, Lisa Hayes, James Tims, Gregory Hayes, and Matthew Hayes; seven great granddaughters; one great great granddaughter, Tabitha Shumate; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Syrena Landis Gregory; her birth mother, Mozelle Jennings Messer; her husband, Alvin A. Abbott; a son, Jerry Guffey; and two brothers, Robert Gregory and R. C. Gregory.

Bearers will be Archie Gregory, Jimmie Jennings, Ron Gregory, Don Gregory, Mearl Gene Gregory, and Jimmy Jennings, Jr.
