Mrs. Hayes was born in Martin County and raised in Shoals. She had resided in Muncie most of her life. She was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church and Avondale Sympathy Club.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Allethia Rusher, Fort Wayne, Mrs. Diretha Abel, Shoals, Mrs. Helena Jones, Indianapolis, Mrs. Beverly Buck, Evansville, and Mrs. Janet Jones, Gaston; one son, Henry H. Hayes, Hobart; 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Parson Mortuary by Rev. Glen R. Campton, pastor of Avondale United Methodist Church and Rev. Keith Davis, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapel. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
