Maria Houston Lish was the fourth of five children born to Enos Lyman Blakesley Lish and Maria Houston Alexander. She was born 8 March 1857 in Ogden, Weber County, Utah. There, on 23 Jan 1872, she married Charles Joshua "Charley" Allen, the son of Jude Allen and Mary Ann Nichols.
