Mrs. Mavis Kelly, daughter of the late Mr. Felix Walter Acree and Mrs. Ida Landis Acree, was born April 15, 1907, in Green County and departed this life Sunday, July 18, 1993, at the Jane Todd Crawford Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. She was 86 years, three months and three days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Fry Baptist Church, where she formerly was a Sunday School teacher. She united in marriage to Mr. Porter Kelly in December, 1926, and he preceded her in death February 12, 1973. To this union were born two daughters and one son, Mozella Poynter, Center; Virginia Beard and James Allen Kelly, both of Greensburg. Mrs. Kelly is also survived by two sons-in-law: Clyde Poynter, Center, and Buddy Beard, Greensburg, and one daughter-in-law, Rebecca Kelly, Greensburg; three grandchildren: Paula VanMeter, Greensburg; Dawn Dudgeon, Campbellsville, and Darian Beard, Greensburg; three great-grandchildren: Thomas Rayburn, Patrick VanMeter and Blake Dudgeon, and one step-great-grandson, Josh Dudgeon and a host of other relatives and friends. The remains were at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home where funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, with burial in the Fry Cemetery. Revs. Leslie Jewell, Ivan Jones and Owen Logsdon officiated. Active pallbearers were Robert Bagby, Rex Kelly, Dallas Blankenship, Vernon Bagby, Lilburn Kelly, Rev. Lester Carter, Royce Clark and Udell Kelly. Honorary pallbearers were J.W. Stilts, Leonard VanMeter, Danny Buchanan, Clinton Kelly, Davis Rose, Howard Curry and Truman McMahan.
