Axie was the daughter of Andrew "Andy" Grubb and Rosey Jane Smith.

Axie was the 3rd cousin 1x removed of Lee Smith.

AXIE GRUBB ABNER, 84, of Woollum, passed away Friday, September 29, 2000 in the Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Grubb and Rosie Jane Smith Grubb. On January 23, 1934 she united in marriage to Walter Abner, who preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Andrew Abner, of Woollum; G.W. and wife, Lillie Abner of Woollum; Lee Roy and wife, Brenda Abner of
Frankfort; Lewis and wife, Lee Abner of Harrodsburg, and Jean Smith and husband, Samson of Perryville. She had 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel Monday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Marvin Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Riley Cemetery on Hammons Fork, in Knox County.
