On January 8, 1858, the Baird's rejoiced at the birth of a baby girl, the first of their children to be born in Iowa. The mother told Finley Baird that he might name the baby. He was a teacher and had two little pupils whose names he admired. So he suggested either Araminta, or Anzonetta. The mother preferred the latter and the child was named Esther Anzonetta. MRS. J. J. MOORE

"Nettie E. Baird was one of the nine children born to John and Mary Achison Baird. She was born January 8, 1858 at the homestead three miles west of Columbus City where on February 27, 1879 she was united in marriage to Joseph J. Moore. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1911.

To this union were born two daughters, Bessie and Nellie at home and one son, Frank A. who now resides on the home farm. There are four grandchildren, Burdette, Lyle, Margery and Dorothy Moore. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Euphema Orr of Albia.

When a young woman she became a member of the United Presbyterian church of Columbus City and was faithful in attendance at all services as long as her health permitted.

Although she had been failing in health for nearly a year the end came very suddenly on the morning of August 25, 1931 at her home in Columbus City.

But we sorrow not as those who have no hope. "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him".

Funeral services were held at the U.P. church Thursday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. W. R. Jamieson of Burlington in the absence of her pastor, Rev. C. S. Ramsdale.

The pallbearers were Charley, John and Robert Orr, George Montgomery, Robert Baird, Robert Moore and Fred Duncan.

Those in charge of the flowers were: Mrs. J.C. Richie, Mrs. J.C. Schoch and Mrs. J.J. Allen.

Those from a distance in attendance were: Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Orr and Betty, Misses Mary, Merle and Gladys Baird, Mrs. J. M. Sterrett and Ronald of Des Moines; Mrs. Euphema Orr, Miss Anna Orr, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. John, Mr. and Mrs. George Montgomery and William of Albia, Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Baird, Mr. and Mrs. Mell McElhinney and Gale, Mrs. Walter Cornic of Morning Sun; Mr. and Mrs. James Kleff, Mr. and Mrs. George Baird, Mr. Sam Baird and Homer of Ainsworth.
