She was born January 21, 1919, the daughter of Jewell and Oliver Abell. She was united in marriage to John Ferrugia in 1945. He preceeded her in death in 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Ferrugia of Baltimore, Maryland, three sons, John Ferrugia of Denver, Colorado, James Ferrugia of Prairie Village, Kansas and Victor Ferrugia of Atlanta, Georgia, three sisters, Maxine Ferrugia of Fulton, Lorene Groesch of Springfield, Illinois and Dorothy McGaha of Wenachee, Washington and seven grandchildren.
She was also preceeded in death by two brothers and a daughter.
Mrs. Ferrugia grew up on a farm near Sante Fe and attended Mexico High School. She worked for A.P. Green Refractories and volunteered as a reading teacher at St. Peters Catholic School in Fulton. Mrs. Ferrugia also volunteered at Callaway Community Hospital.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am Friday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Fulton. Burial will follow Mass at Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton. Visitation is from 6-7pm Thursday at Maupin Funeral Home with recitation of the Rosary at 7pm.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Peters Catholic Church Building Fund.
