Chico Enterprise Record, January 23, 1968: "Earl Ellsworth Abbott, 80, of 1822 Magnolia Ave., a longtime Chico resident, died early this morning at Enloe Hospital after a short illness. Abbott was born Sept. 19, 1887, in Iowa, where he was reared and attended school. He came to Chico in 1908 and worked for Pacific Gas and Electric for 30 years. He was married to Lola Gray in Oroville Oct. 23, 1909. Abbott was a 50 year member of the Chico Odd Fellows Lodge. He is survived by his widow, Lola; two sons, Wayne of Chico and Eldred of Sacramento; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. ...Casketbearers will be Wayne Abbott, Eldred Abbott, David Abbott, Clinton Abbott, Richard Abbott, William Kaywood (sic). Interment will be at the Chico Cemetery."
