She met William Joseph "Joe" McClanahan and they would marry ca. 1878 in Clay County, NC. Luvenia brought to this marriage one illegitimate daughter, Dovie V Woods.
After their marriage, Joe and Luvenia would remove to the Alarka Community of Swain County.
Four children would be born to this union:
Thomas Vance McClanahan
John Anderson "Peat" McClanahan
William Arthur McClanahan
Minnie (McClanahan) Herron-Adams
Luvenia died at home in the Alarka Community of Swain County.
She was 55-years of age.
