He was the assistant manager of Miller's Super Market in Denver, was bakery manager for Tony's Pizza Service in Salina for more than 13 years and had been an agent for Farmers Insurance Group. He managed several restaurants, including Beacon Restaurant in Oakley, Carousel Restaurant in Salina, Bonanza in Dodge City and the Ponderosa in Ashland. He also had worked as the service writer for Otasco in Salina and was a truck driver and mill operator for Brown Construction Co., in Salina until retiring. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral and a former member of the Moose and the Ambucs, all of Salina, and the Chamber of Commerce of Dodge City.
Survivors include his wife, Louetta M. of Salina; two sons, Roy Lee of Salina and Jeffrey of Dodge City; three daughters, Kathryn Sidles, Patricia Heier and Kristina Brin, all of Salina; five brothers, Bernard of Salt Lake City, Gary of Gillette, Wyo., Jim of Oakley, Bill of Springfield, Colo., and Charles of Hays; four sisters, Evelyn Geist of Grinnell, Helen Legleiter of Hays, and Roberta Robben and Mary Loree Nichol, both of Oakley; 15 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, Monsignor James Hake officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina. A vigil/rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.
Memorials may be made to the Cathedral or to Hospice of Salina. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
