George Kinder, 59, of Barbourville, Ky., died Nov. 19, 1987 in the Knox County General Hospital. He was a son of the late James Kinder and Fannie Hammons and born to them on Oct. 25, 1928 in Knox County.

Mr. Kinder was a retired state Highway Department employee. He was United States Army veteran and a Kentucky Colonel.

On Oct. 5, 1958, he united in marriage with Frances J. Vaughn.

Mr. Kinder leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Frances J. Kinder, Barbourville; two sons, Glenn Kinder and wife Brenda of Nicholasville, Ky., George Michael Kinder and wife Maleia of Barbourville; four sisters, Elsie Abner of Bardstown, Ky., Myrtle Turner of Danville, Ky., Effie Smith, Barbourville, Rosie Smith of Detroit, Mich.; three grandchildren, Adam, Patrick and Rachel.

Mr. Kinder was preceded in death by four brothers, Charlie, Ed, John and Lawrence.

Services were conducted at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Partin and Rev. Dale Rose officiating. Interment was in Barbourville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Denver Leddington, Glenn Kinder, Abe Smith, Millard Turner, William (Willie) Phipps Jr, Roy g. vice, gene Lumpkins and Roy Kinder. Honorary pallbearers were Rufus Bays, Dr. T.V. Hays, mike Warren, Estle Scalf, Clyde Gambrel, Don Lee, Douglas Barnett, W.B. Frazier, Henry Martin, Dwight Kinder, Curtis Corey, Vance Mills, Ted D. Campbell, Jerry Garland, Curt Gambrel, Harry mays, Randall Baker, Bobby Oaks, employees of the State Highway Department, the nurses and staff in ICU at the Knox County General Hospital, all friends and neighbors of the Kinder family.

Arrangements were respectfully serviced by Charles F. Hopper and his staff at the Hopper Funeral Home.
