Mae Frable, 109, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Monday afternoon at home. She was the widow of Warren Washington Frable Sr., who died Oct. 16, 1991.
She was born in Scranton on Aug. 21, 1897, the daughter of the late William and Mary Edwards Allspaugh. She and her husband were the owners of a Nu-Way Market, W. Frable and Son Grocery at 225 S. Webster Ave., for 70 years and Frable's Wholesale Grocery Co., Lackawanna Avenue.
Surviving are a daughter, Judy Donovan and husband Bill, Scranton; a son, Warren Frable and wife, Mary, Philadelphia; two granddaughters, Jill Donovan and Holly Donovan, both of Scranton; a great grandson, Eugene Donovan, Scranton; and a niece Dorothy Woods, San Antonio.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Frable; three brothers, John Allspaugh, William Allspaugh and George Allspaugh.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., with services by the Rev. Mary Jane Hitt, pastor of the Providence United Presbyterian Church, Scranton. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery, Dunmore.
