Funeral services were held at Holy Name of Mary church on Monday for Antonio N. Montoya, 78, long time Del Norter who died Thursday in Denver. He had made his home in Denver the past year, but prior spent all his life in Del Norte. He was a retired employee of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad.
Mr. Montoya was born in Del Norte July 18, 1888, the son of Luciano and Emilia Gallegos Montoya. He was a member of SPMDTU and SDTU lodges.
He is survived by three daughters, a son, two sisters and one brother—Elvira Espinosa, Alamosa; Maria Chacon, Denver; Betty Montoya, Las Vegas, New Mexico; Ben of Ranson, Illinois, Mmes Jasper Chavez and Mary Abel, Layton, Utah; Ross, Oakland, California; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Rev. Fr. Christopher Panebianco officiated and pallbearers were A.J.N. Valdez, Jake Montoya, Jr., Lee Montoya, Andrew Dominguez, Solomon Maestas and Perfecto Martinez.
