James William Lloyd, 93 years, 9 months and 22 days of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, November 12th, 2013 at his residence.

James was born on January 21st, 1920, in Harriman, Tennessee, son of the late William and Maggie Jefferys Lloyd. He was a cashier for the A&P Tea Company. James was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church on Bourne Avenue in Somerset. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the United States Army. James loved to hunt and fish, loved his Church, his family and grandchildren.

James was survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Mary Barnes Lloyd, whom he married on July 7th, 1941 in Jamestown, Kentucky; one son, James P. (and Lois) Lloyd; two daughters, Janice Lloyd and Gail Lloyd; two sisters, Irma Reed and Euldean Craft; three grandchildren, Bruce (and Lauren) Lloyd, Kevin (and Kelly) Lloyd, and Robin Brown; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Lloyd, Carly Lloyd, and Bailey Brown; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lloyd, who departed this life on October 5th, 1989 and Maggie Lloyd, who departed this life on January 11th, 1981; one brother, Charles Lloyd; and four sisters, Madgel Robbins, Illa Lawson, Audrey Aaron, and Nona Alcorn.

Visitations were held on Wednesday, November 13th, 2013 after 6:00 p.m. at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 14th, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Clem and Bro. Dave Zuhars officiating.

Burial followed in the Burnside Cemetery. Military Honors were conducted by the American Legion Post No#38 Honor Guard.
