She was born on August 2, 1911. Frances was the patriarch of the Polish side of the family. She lived in Schenectady, N.Y., for most of her life. In her earlier years, she worked for the telephone company as a telephone operator and later became, with her husband, Joseph, the owners of several Jackson Avenue Apartments. There she helped many people, both young and old, who till this day remember and speak of her with great respect and regard.
The last 13 years of her life were spent living in Oriental, North Carolina, with her son Richard and daughter-in-law, Jean. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Schenectady, N.Y., and St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Oriental. She loved life, loved her church and family, and loved reading books.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph. She is survived by her son, Richard of Oriental; four grandchildren, Roxane McPeters of Albany, N.Y., Richard J. Ahkao of Belleville, Mich., Allen P. Ahkao of Berkeley Heights, N.J. and Andrew Ahkao of Dumont, N.J.; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 20, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Oriental with Father Paul Mizener officiating. Arrangements by Bryant Funeral Home & Cremations, Alliance.
