CHICKAMAUGA, GA - David Franklin Abbott, 82, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011. He was born to the late Henry Benjamin and Tempie Dunn Abbott in Ascalon, GA, on April 7, 1929.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #300 and American Legion Post 217, and he retired in 1992 from Rains Brothers Construction.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Abbott; sons, Benjamin Franklin Abbott and David Eugene "Buster" Abbott; sister, Imogene Lane.

Survivors include his daughter, Joy Abbott; sons, Donald Howard "Nootie" Abbott and his wife Holly, all of Chickamauga, GA; sister, Edna Frances Blevins; six brothers, Ernest Edward "Shorty" Abbott, J.R. Abbott, Noland Henry Abbott, Roy Lee Abbott, Clifford Abbott and Lamar Abbott; six grandchildren, Melody Strickland, Nicole Dodson, Cassie Webb, Sarah Abbott, Cody Abbott and Jessica Abbott; four great-grandchildren, Logan Webb, Levi Webb, Blakely Webb, Benjamin Pemberton; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Camp officiating.

Interment will follow in Grand Center Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Homes, Chickamauga Chapel.
