DEATH TAKES JOHN W. SWEENY

John W. Sweeny, 51, formerly of Aspen, passed away in the Veteran's Hospital in Los Angeles, Thurs., Nov. 2. He was a veteran of World War I and made his home with his father, Miles Sweeny until seven years ago. The remains will arrive Monday and funeral arrangements will be completed at that time.

JOHN W. SWEENY LAID AT REST

John William Sweeny, who was born in Aspen April 3, 1893, was laid at rest in Red Butte cemetery Wednesday afternoon following services by the Elks Lodge at Sardy Mortuary and graveside services by the Masonic Lodge. Pallbearers were James Parsons, Dan Lavey, Phili Crosby, Herman Nelson, Orest Gerbaz, and Paul Frost.

Mr. Sweeny was educated in the public schools of Aspen. He enlisted in the Army in World War I in 1917 and served overseas. After his discharge from the Army he made his home here with his father, Miles Sweeny, until seven years ago this fall when he left for California.

He died in Veteran's Hospital in Los Angeles on Nov. 2, at 10:45 a.m.

He leaves his father, Miles Sweeny of Aspen, two brothers, Edward Sweeny of Grand Junction and Lawrence Sweeny of Rifle, a sister, Mary Acheson of Aspen.

He also leaves two nephews and two nieces: Miles Acheson and Larry Sweeny and Peggy Acheson and Ann Sweeny. Also an aunt, Mrs. Lawrence Sweeny and family of Silt.
