Mattie Bell Austin Abbott, 82, Palmyra, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

The funeral will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev. Bob Creasy officiating.

Burial will be in Austin Cemetery, Stewart County. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born in Indian Mound on Feb. 28, 1927 the daughter of John Thomas Austin and Mattie Bell Taylor. She was the widow of Raymond Abbott.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers Frank Austin, Roy Austin, Bud Austin, John Austin and Leonard(Pete)Austin and one sister Lola Coleman.

She was a Baptist and attended Church of God of Prophecy.

She is survived by three sons Grayland Ray Abbott of Clarksville, Wayne Thomas(Cynthia) Abbott of Franklin, TN, Wendell Lynn Abbott of Palmyra, one daughter Lisa Marie(Charles) Page of Clarksville,three step-daughters Loretta Massey of Gainsville, FL., Mary Ann Baskin of Clarksville, Francis Heckman of Louisville, KY, one sister Josephine Powers of Dover, four grandchildren Amanda Abbott, Robert Abbott, Alicia Grimes Grimes and Joshua Abbott, six great grandchildren, five step-grandchildren.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
