Mrs. Alice Mize Griffith, 73, of 124 Manassas Place, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at her residence.
Mrs. Griffith was born in Clayton on February 15, 1924, to Wilburn and Rosie Remy Mize. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Jane Wann.
A homemaker, she had taught elementary school in north Georgia. She moved to Fitzgerald from Anderson, Ind., in 1978. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, where she had taught the Jessie Thompson Sunday School Class and had served on the adminstrative board. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include: husband, Earl N. Griffith, Sr., of Fitzgerlad; sons, Earl N. Griffith, Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind., Lt. Col. James Ray Griffith of Fort Bragg, N.C., and George Lee Griffith of Chicago, Ill;, daughters, Jessica Lynn Seagroves of Fitzgerald and Genie Higgins of Raleigh, N.C.; brothers, Gene Mize of Atlanta and Berry Mize of Temecula, Calif.; sisters, Elvie Rice of Anderson, S.C., Myrtice Abrams of Clayton and Bonnie Dunnigan and Delie Whitaker, both of Gainesville, and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, in the Paulk Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Edwin "Buddy" Cooper officiating.
Soloist Lee Massee was accompanied by Becky Anderson at the piano.
Pallbearers were William Marsh, Tracy Hobby, William Strickland, Billy Whelchel, Ed Davis and Gene Harper.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Central United Methodist Church Restoration Fund.
