CORRALES, N.M. - Former Emporian Martha Poole Abbott died Wednesday at Albuquerque, N.M. A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Monday at Patio Garden in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The casket will be closed.
Mrs. Florence Eaton, reader for the Christian Science Church, will conduct the service. Memorial contribution may be made to Abbott Memorial Fund at Upward View in Phoenix, Ariz., in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. A complete obituary will be published later.

The graveside service for Mrs. Ward T. Abbott of Corrales, N.M., was held this morning at the Patio Garden in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Florence Eaton, reader of the Christian Science Church, conducted eh service.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Abbott Memorial Fund of Upward View. Contributions may be sent to Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, which was in charge of arrangements.
Martha Nell Poole was born in Liberal. Mo., on Sept. 3, 1914, the daughter of James A. and Blanche De. Fellers Poole.
She was a retail sales supervisor in fashion clothing. She had worked at Poole"s Ready-to Wear in Emporia, Neiman-Marcus in Fort Worth, Tex., and Swanson's in Kansas City, Mo.
She and Ward T. Abbott were married in Emporia on June 26, 1971. He died in 1985.
Mrs. Abbott is survived by a sister, Lenore Bruckner of Topeka, and two nieces, Paula Peterson of Topeka and Brenda Casey of Guilford, Conn.
Mrs. Abbott was a graduate of Emporia High School. She attended Emporia State University ad graduated from Washburn University. She was stationed with the U.S.O. in Hawaii during World War II. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
She was The Gazette's "Woman of the Week" o March 26, 1960, because "She exemplifies the many men and women in Emporia who bring the latest in both men's and women's fashions from the far corners of the world to Emporians." At the time of the honor given to her, she had returned from market and fashion shows in New York City.
She was a member of The Mother Church, the First Church of Christ, Scientists, Boston, Mass., and the Christian Science Church in Corrales.
