EMANUEL BECK DEAD.
Emanuel Beck, a resident of Emporia for the past forty-two years, died last night at 7:40 at his home 917 Cottonwood street. He had not been well for the past few months, but was not considered seriously sick.
Emanuel Beck was born in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, May 10, 1829, and was married there to Miss Fianna Holderman. They lived in Lancaster County until 1859, then moved to Woodfield, Ohio. In October, 1869, they moved to Emporia, and this town ever since had been their home. Mr. Beck was a charter member of the A. O. U. W., which was organized in 1877, and held office in that order until a year ago, when his health failed. He was register of deed from 1884 to 1888, and was a member of the city council in 1873. He was in the real estate business, with an office over the Kress store for several years. He has been a faithful member of the First Methodist Church during his long residence in Emporia.
He is survived by his wife, and two daughters, Mrs. H. F. Holmes, of 828 Market, and Mrs. W. S. Bray, of 917 Cottonwood Street. His eldest daughter, Mrs. A. C. Abraham, died eighteen years ago.
The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and interment will be made in Maplewood Cemetery. Rev. Henry W. Hargett, of the First Methodist Church, will have charge of the service. The casket will be open tomorrow morning and during the service.
