Peter Ackerman was born May 02, 1875, in Neusatz, Beresan, Odessa, South Russia, the son of Jacob Ackerman Sr. and Katharina Eissinger.
At the age of almost ten years, Peter along with his parents and siblings; Jacob Jr., George, Johann and Sophia, immigrated to America via the Port of Bremen, Germany, aboard the SS "Werra" and arrived at the Port of New York, New York, on the 1st of April 1885.
Peter married October 24, 1897, in Campbell County, South Dakota, to Carolina Perman. This union was blessed with no less than seven children.
