Ray Bruce, 13, is in a serious condition at a Lexington Hospital, suffering from a fractured skull which he received when he was likewisethrown from the truck which was driven by his father, Mr. T.F. Bruce.
According to information received ten persons were riding on the back of the truck, which did not have a bed, when a sudden rain came up. The rain blinded Mr. Bruce so badly that he failed to make a curve, throwing the truck in a ditch. Abott and young Bruce were thrown from the truck and the wheels ran over them. A younger Bruce boy was thrown from the truck but was uninjured. The accident occurred in front of Zeb Stephens home.
Mr. Abott had been living at Sand Hill for the past year, having moved here with his family from Wayne County. He was a good Christian man and had many friends who were grieved at his untimely passing. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, May, of Ritner; three sons, Luther, Coy, George, and Lloyd, all of Sand Hill.
Funeral services were held on Monday aafternoon at the Taylor Ridge Cemetery with Rev. John Bryant officiating. Interment was in the cemetery there.
