Frances Mae Aanonson, age 90 of 505 Lime Street, Clearwater died Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in St. Cloud.
Funeral services will be on Monday, Oct 31 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Cemetery in Clearwater. Rev. Ramon Buckley will officiate. Burial will be in St. Luke's Cemetery in Clearwater. Military rites will be provided by the Clearwater American Legion Post #323.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday Oct. 30 at the Daniel-Lindquist funeral Chapel in Clearwater. St. Luke's Parish wake service will be held at 8 p.m.
Frances was born on Oct 18, 1904 in Minot, ND to Cordy and Ellen (Lukenbill) Maness. She married Emmett A. Aanonson on June 8, 1942 in Webster, SD. She was a US Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII. She had been a resident of Clearwater since 1970. She was a member of the St. Luke's Parish in Clearwater, The Clearwater American Legion Post #323 for 50 years and also its auxiliary, and the St. Cloud East Side VFW Post #4847 Auxiliary, and a charter member of the Clearwater Lioness Club.
Survivors include husband, Emmett of Clearwater, daughter, Virginia Mooney of St. Paul; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Wallace Clemmer, brothers, Bill, Patrick and Art; sisters, Sally Murphy and Lilly Flynn; great grandson Tom Hughes.

DEAR ABBY: I'm writing in response to the letter from the young man whose parents disapproved of his love for an older woman with a child. The parents refused to meet the woman.
I recently received a phone call from Emmet Aanonson of Clearwater, Minn., a dear friend who was married for 53 years to Frances, a woman 17 years his senior. He insists that age has nothing to do with love.
In their youth, it was hard on Emmet and Frances because of family disapproval. His family refused to believe that a good-looking 20-year-old man could really love a 37-year-old woman with two nearly grown children.
Emmet said he did love her -- until her dying day at age 90. I was with them when she died, and he is terribly lonely without her.
At one time, Frances was named outstanding senior citizen of our county. Emmet, who was a long-haul trucker, had told her he wouldn't be with her on her big day. I'll never forget when Frances spotted him at the ceremony, and the loving kiss and hug between them. Emmet had driven all night to be with her. Many times, as Emmet and I were with her at the end of her life, she would fight to come back for him.
