He served in the Navy during WWII. He was a commercial fisherman for 30 years, working in Alaska, Puget Sound and the Columbia River. He lived in Cathlamet, WA, where he owned a Chevron automotive business, and Vancouver, before moving to Beaverton several years ago. He also was a meterial damage adjuster for Grange Insurance. In 1976, he married Dorothy Buchkowsky. Survivors include his wife; son, David; stepdaughters, Linda Hedge Nihom and Lori Granewich; and seven grandchildren.
