Gayle Webster, 73, Minot, formerly of the Coulee area, died Monday, December 1, 2008 at home.

Gayle was born March 14, 1935 near Lostwood, North Dakota, the only child born to Clarence and Ida (Charnetzki) Johnson. She was raised in the Coulee area and when she was 14 years old, moved with her parents to Minot.

Gayle attended Minot High School during the eighth grade and attended and graduated from Dakota Lutheran High School. She attended Minot State College for two summers, pursuing a teaching degree. She taught at three different rural schools, the first near Deering, ND.

Gayle met her future husband, Calno Webster, while staying with his parents while teaching near Deering, during the winter of 1953. She also taught near South Prairie in 1954. Gayle married Cal in August of 1955. She taught at her third rural school, south of Minot in 1955. She worked as a secretary for Doctor Benson for a short time. She then began work as a teller for Minot Federal Savings and Loan, where she handled the school savings program. She later worked for Midwest Federal until 1990, and then worked at Metropolitan Federal Savings and Loan until 1995. She worked as a teller for 40 years, some of it part-time. She began a home day-care business in 1995, which continued for about five years.

Gayle loved her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed summer weekends camping with her family, bike riding around Minot, waterskiing, roller blading and the holidays. She enjoyed exercise and yard work. Gayle added an air of fun and positive attitude wherever she went. She will be truly missed by many.
