Carolina, of Peñasco, was predeceased by her husband Charles Abeyta; daughter Della Sanchez; three sons: Teddy Abeyta, Baby Joe, and Baby Carlitos Abeyta; four grandchildren: Steven Abeyta, Allen Ray Ortega, Yvonne Abeyta and Baby Maria Sanchez; two brothers: Manuel Trujillo and Jose Muñiz.
Carolina was survived by her children: Theresa Ortega (husband Phil) of Alaska, Alex Abeyta (wife Josie) of Peñasco, Fabiola Edwards of Santa Fe, Josephine Lucero (husband Arnold) of Santa Fe, Helen Cordova (husband Roy) of Salt Lake City, Utah; Rose Aguilar of Santa Fe, Vincent Abeyta of Peñasco, Michael Abeyta (wife Cecilia) of Albuquerque, Carlos Abeyta (wife Sylvia) of Albuquerque, and Ronald Abeyta of Santa Fe; 43 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Carolina was a member of Las Carmelitas, the Cursillistas, and she was a longtime member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Peñasco.
Funeral Mass was on May 7, 2003 at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Peñasco. Burial followed in the family plot in Peñasco.
