Obituary

Mrs. Hamner, the wife of John Hamner, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Wilson Henderson, at Franklin, Johnson Co. Ind, Sept. 8th, 1885. She
was the daughter of Thomas Abbett and was born in Shelby Co. Ky., Sept 9th 1823, age 62 years, 11 months, 29 days.
She was twice married first to Thomas Mitchel of Johnson Co., the 3rd of Dec. 1840, and lived together until death parted them Sept. 3rd 1846. She was a widow four years, and afterwards married John Hamner of Johnson Co.
the 1st of Sept. 1850. A daughter survives her of the first husband.

She joined the Baptist church in May 1879 and lived a true and faithful Christian till death, she was warm hearted and sympathetic. Her kindly greetings and tottering steps will be daily missed by her neighbors and
their little children more sadly still by her husband and loving daughter who were happy in ministering to her wants, no more patient nursing than they gave her in the last illness could one desire or receive.

But the time came and the well fought battle is ended and the victory is won. Services were held at the Amity church by Rev. Isaac Sawin. She was laid to rest in the family burying ground near Amity in the presence of a
large assembly of the community that respected her, where she will await the voice of the Son of God.
