Franklin Democrat, Friday, 22 June 1906, pg 1
Elizabeth J. Abbott, age 80 years, died Friday of last week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. D. Pritchard, west of Amity. The funeral was Sunday afternoon at Tennessee church conducted by Elder Simeon T. Riggs.

Franklin Democrat, Friday, 29 June 1906, pg 3
Eliza Jane Abbott was born in Decatur county, Indiana, Dec. 6th, 1825. She joined the Bethel Primitive Baptist church in the spring of 1848. She was united in marriage to Jefferson Mitchell Oct. 21, 1849. To this union were born five children, namely Noah, Julia, Manervia, [Harriett] and Emma. Noah and Emma died in infancy.
For six months she had been a great sufferer but the poor worn frame will never more be racked with the agonies of pain, for the Lord called her home June 15, 1906, making a pilgrimage of eighty years, six months and nine days, leaving to mourn their loss three daughters, Mrs. Julia Pritchard, Mrs. Manervia Foster and Mrs. Harriett Chaney, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Nancy Parkhurst, one half-sister, Mrs. Hannah Hamner, and two half-brothers, Thomas and A. J. Abbott.
Truly a good woman has gone to her rest. May those who survive her emulate her virtues, and share with her reward of the righteous.
When the end came the silver cord was gently broken, and her spirit passed into the presence of Him, whom she trusted so faithfully. May the Father of mercy, comfort the bereaved ones, and give them His grace, that they may be enabled to follow her as she followed Christ, and may God in his tender mercy guard, guide and direct those left behind so that they may at last be gathered around the “Great White Throne” to sing praises to Him who doeth all things well, through all his great Eternity.

Farewell dear mother, sweet thy rest,
Weary with years and worn with pain.
Farewell till in some happy place,
We shall behold thy face again.
‘Tis ours to miss thee, all our years,
And tender memories of thee keep,
Thine in the Lord to rest, for so,
He giveth His beloved sleep. M.E.Y.

Indiana State Board of Health Certificate of Death No 1 for Blue River Township, records that Eliza J. Abbott, white female, age (blurry) [about 80y], and a widow, died on June 15, 1906 in Blue River Township. The cause of death was "Senile Dementia." She was the daughter of Thomas Abbott, born in Kentucky, and her mother's name could not be read, nor the informant. She was buried at Pritchard Cemetery on June 17, 1906, undertaker not readable.

Notes~ The scan of the Death Certificate is very blurry, and much information cannot be read. She is listed with her maiden name as ABBOTT rather than her married name of MITCHELL. She was originally buried at Pritchard Cemetery. She was apparently reburied at Young's Creek as that is where her stone is located.
